Team MJC’s Borough Food Crawl Adventure
The second instalment of our blog series is the Borough food crawl, with delights that are guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling!
Our day usually starts off with a flood of phone calls from lovely customers who want to book an appointment for the day. We have a nice chat with them on the phone, gather all the materials we need for the jobs, make sure we’re all set…then we hit the road!
Where to Eat Breakfast
Borough Market is just around the corner and we carry out many plumbing jobs for residential and commercial customers in this area. Of course, it also gives us ample opportunity to visit many of the wonderful eateries there and soak up the buzzing atmosphere. Honestly, the food is top-notch…it’s a foodie heaven and great for tourists and locals alike.
The market is indisputably one of the best London street-food hotspots, it’s also home to a spectacular range of restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes and wine shops.
If you need a coffee to kickstart your day, then you should try Monmouth Coffee. Many people say that they serve the best freshly roasted coffee in London. You’ll find many different varieties of beans and flavours, with lovely pastries and bread to eat with them. I must warn you though, there might be a bit of a queue, but it’ll be well worth waiting for! ?

If you need something a bit more filling, then The Breakfast Club is an absolute winner. They call it the London Bridge branch, but it’s right next to Borough Market. So, you can drop by before going on to explore the Market. The atmosphere is great, and if you’re feeling absolutely famished, well…you’re in the right place! The full American breakfast also comes with a vegetarian option, and you can also sample their pancakes, waffles, breakfast sandwiches and butties. Or why not try the porridge and granola if you’re trying to keep things healthy?
The food is truly exceptional, there’s something for everyone and it’s cooked to perfection. What more could you ask for eh? They also serve lunch, so I suppose you could even go back again after you’ve finished walking around the market. ?
This popular eatery has quite a few branches around London, including Angel, Battersea Rise, Canary Wharf, Croydon, Hackney Wick, Hoxton, Soho and Spitalfields…check them out!

Where to Eat Lunch
Once I’m done filling my tummy, it’s on to my next job. I always strive to complete it to the customer’s satisfaction. I usually have lunch on-the-job, unless I’ve skipped breakfast. If I’m lucky enough I sometimes get the chance to head down to Borough Market so that I can enjoy the artisan and street food stalls.
Here’s a fab video from Mark Wiens, who gives you the low down on some of the tasty food that he tried out during his visit to the market:
