MJC Plumbing Tricks Help Avoid Pipe Blockages
Were you able to avoid pipe blockages this Halloween? If, not, before you start carving up your pumpkins next year, try following our Halloween tips!
Halloween can be quite frightening, but you can steer clear of a plumbing nightmare, just by making sure that you dispose of your pumpkins properly.
Carving pumpkins is a tradition all around the world. However, no one ever really stops to think about the consequences of failing to correctly dispose of the mash and seeds from the pumpkin. We see the results of this it all the time. Kitchen sink drains become blocked up!
People don’t seem to be aware of the plumbing dangers involved with this practice. Pumpkins are stringy, right? So, this substance can obviously solidify and clog up your plumbing system. If you want to avoid pipe blockages, just follow these simple steps.
Halloween Pumpkin Tips
- Carve up your pumpkins away from your kitchen sink
- Don’t discard the mash and seeds down the sink
- Put all the pumpkin waste in the bin, or;
- Make some tasty treats for friends and family
- Give it to your dog, it will help them with any digestive issue they might have as too!
Well, even though Halloween may be over, there are still pumpkins that need to be eaten!
Did you know that every year at Halloween, in the UK we throw away 18,000 tonnes of pumpkin? Wowzers! That’s an awful lot of waste!
As you know, at MJC Plumbing, we’re all about zero-waste. So, why not use your leftover pumpkin to make some tasty food? It’s great for many dishes, including things like pastries, biscuits, bread, or curries. 😊
